Minister promises relief to rain victims

Kochi: Kerala Food and Civil Supplies Minister C Divakaran today said the State Government would provide succour to people affected in the incessant rainfall which had been lashing the State especially in the Central and Northern parts, and not wait for assistance from the Centre. Speaking to reporters here, Divakaran said the government would give free ration to people in the relief camps, he noted.

The Minister said the Centre had asked the officials to assess the extent of loss during the rainfall and the State Government would give Rs one lakh to the families of those killed in the rain-related incidents
